2013 Qtr 4 FAL - the round up

Oh dear!  I knew my list was ambitious

and I didn't realize I would get quite so busy with customer quilts and teaching

so here goes ...

Qtr 4 - the List!

#1.  Siblings Together - carried over from last month, this is a top that now needs to be quilted and bound.  - DONE!  Blogged here :)

#2  12th Street - another top, (pattern testing) and just needs quilting and binding - DONE , blog post here

#3  Merry Go Round Quilt - yes, another top that just needs quilting and binding, this one is now a class sample so I better pull my skates on! - Nope, didn't happen!

#4  Patch Fabrics project - I need to finish piecing the project and produce the finished article and write a blog post/tutorial - Sadly not, this has to be first on my list for 2014 !

#5  Chevron Quilt -  I have quite some way to go on this one, piecing to finish off, quilted and bound - didn't happen

#6   Christmas quilt -  carried over from earlier in the year, piecing to finish, quilt and bind - ha ha, didn't happen!

#7  Kaleidoscope quilt -I have half  blocks, so again piecing, quilting and binding - Still not done

#8  Black and White 2 for one - piecing started, so finish piecing, quilt and bind. - No, not done either!

so that's  just 2/8,  which in the big scheme of things is 2 more finishes that there might have been without the FAL!

I've linked up with Leanne, and will now make my list for 2014 .

It could be a long one again!

A Sneaky Last minute Finish

Hopefully this one is just under the wire for the last Qtr of 2013 FAL

with all the excitement going on around here, I am only just getting this posted.

I finally got my Siblings Together Quilt loaded New Years Day!

added the binding and it sat for a week

so yesterday in an attempt to get it done I sat at the machine and stitched the binding down

not my usual method,  but this will be laundered within the care system so needs to be robust

the sun was out, but the wind was having none of it!

so my first finish of the year, is my last finish for last years FAL!

I'll get my link up and round up post written so I can scrape in with Leanne,

and after I've dealt with today's delivery, I'll review my list for 2014 FAL, which this year is being hosted by Katy :)

Happy Mail

So as part of the Finish Along
not only do we get to work on actually focusing and finishing projects,
there is of course, a little incentive from the sponsors

and this last quarter I was lucky enough to be picked as a winner!

so a very big Thank You to Green Fairy Quilts for sponsoring us

and for my fabulous prize!
I'm looking for the perfect pattern to do something special with this,
I may have to start something New!

12th Street, a new finish!

Nothing like starting the week off on a high!

12th Street is a newly released pattern available from Brenda and Pink Castle Fabrics,
if you've not or ordered from her before, I cannot recommend them highly enough
(as a very satisfied customer and for no other reason)

Well, it all started with a shout out from Brenda on Instagram for pattern testers,
never one to sit back and twiddle my thumbs, I jumped at the chance ...

so I made a selection of fabrics ...

can't beat a little bit of Amy Butler in your 'go to' stash

and started piecing

and I have to say, this is a really quick and easy pattern to make, definitely beginner friendly

I did take the time to make sure I didn't have the same fabrics in each block, and am pleased with how that little bit of obsessive behavior has worked out!

this was so quick to make, it was done in two sessions over a weekend,

and then I managed to slip it in between customer quilts on the frame

and gave it the 'Trudi' treatment with some Aurifil!

I also managed to dig out a great back from my stash!

that did make me giggle!

so that is the first finish for Q4 of the Finish Along!

Yayyy for being just a little obsessed!

and for reducing my FAL List too!

Finish Along = The final Quarter 2013

I need to get this is fast!

and perhaps you won't notice that I've gone for blind panic, and the more the merrier slant,
well, what's the worst that can happen, I don't finish any of them!

so here goes:

#1.  Siblings Together - carried over from last month, this is a top that now needs to be quilted and bound.

#2  12th Street - another top, (pattern testing) and just needs quilting and binding

#3  Merry Go Round Quilt - yes, another top that just needs quilting and binding, this one is now a class sample so I better pull my skates on!

#4  Patch Fabrics project - I need to finish piecing the project and produce the finished article and write a blog post/tutorial

#5  Chevron Quilt -  I have quite some way to go on this one, piecing to finish off, quilted and bound

#6   Christmas quilt -  carried over from earlier in the year, piecing to finish, quilt and bind

#7  Kaleidoscope quilt -I have half  blocks, so again piecing, quilting and binding

#8  Black and White 2 for one - piecing started, so finish piecing, quilt and bind.

hmm, ambitious, yes, but hey, nothing like a challenge eh?
and of course the theme ... 'just needs ....'  lol

Linking this up with Leanne for the final quarter of this years FAL

Phew!

A Finish and a FAL Report

I finished this quilt last weekend, but just didn't have the weather to get a good pic of it ...

so this morning with the sun shining I finally got it out there

This is my Overs and Unders quilt, a pattern from Scrap Basket Sensations by Kim Brackett

and I am thrilled with how it turned out!

it has a few grubby finger prints on it, but that's ok, it will wash no problem!

so this was on my Qtr3 FAL list, so I'm hoping to have snuck this one i under the wire!

Speaking of which, I need to declare my finishes for the Quarter ..

so I declared I would finish 4 things

#1 Siblings Together Quilt ...  I made progress this is now a completed top, but sadly not finished.

#2 Overs and Unders ....  Woohoooo! We have finished it!  Success!

#3  Table Runner  ...  Yep, another finish, blogged here

and I was teaching with it yesterday!

#4 Swoon Quilt ... nothing has happened with this, it still remains a top that requires quilting and finishing, so a Fail on the swoon front!

so that makes a 50% success rate!

not bad as I have been mega busy, teaching, quilting, making and harvesting

so I am going to link this up with Leanne for Qtr 3 FAL

and better start thinking about my Qtr 4.
(shocking we are that far through the year already!)
