A little convergence ...

I attend a quilting class at the LQS once a month, and this month we were doing convergence quilts.  Well, I've done one already, and didn't fancy doing another one, so, I did a slight deviation from the class, and did a curved convergence instead.

Started on Tuesday, finished the following Monday!  I did all the quilting free motion on my domestic machine, rather than on the frame.  The thread is Superior Rainbows called Salsa!  Suits the weather right now!

Happy Quilting!

Wimbledon!

A time for tennis and, a time for strawberries, freshly picked from my allotment!

Almost 800g (that's 1Lb 12 oz in old money!) and this is the third collection in the last week, I'm having to pick them every other day!  I think these will become some home made jam.  Though the home made ice cream was delicious too!

Happy Tennis Sue!

Pea Room Picturetastic!

Firstly, to the ladies of the Pea Room Quilters of Heckington I would like to thank you for a wonderful exhibition, and secondly to those I have not acknowledged to your quilt or if I have the details wrong, I am sorry

Get yourself a cup of your favourite drink, and enjoy!

This was my favourite!

The Long Borders, by Tina Slipper.  Stunning!

This beautiful whole cloth was made by Janet Dickenson (I think)  made after a workshop with Lilian Hedley.

I love roman stripe quilts they are so versatile, and can look so different, this one definitely speak Christmas!

This was stunning, the stitching was amazing.

It was difficult to get the colour just right on this cot size whole cloth by Doreen Hallett.

This is by Angela Daymond, and I can't remember it's title, as she changed it!  You may have seen it at Festival of Quilts.

A visit to grandma's house!  The hand stitching was wonderful.

Union Jelly, by Liz Hands.

The group has a challenge section, each quilter was given a piece of fabric and challenged to piece a small quilt with it.  These are some that caught my eye!

Spirit of Japan by Angela Daymond

Joan made this whilst we were at Grimsby on retreat back in May!

There were also some traders there, Quilt Essentials (I think)  and The African Fabric shop.  Now I have to confess, I made a pinkie promise a week or so ago with the Teenage Diva that I would not buy any more fabric for 2 months!  (with a sub clause of borders backings and bindings only if absolutely necessary!)  And I was true to my word, I didn't buy any.  But this lovely basket did make it home with me!

a mixed bag ...

Is it just me, or is everyone a little lacking in energy and v v vroooom!  I've been a little lax in posting lately, but better to have something to show than bore you silly ?

Recently I have been the very lucky recipient of these two beautiful hand made beaded badges from Mary.  I have to say she is an amaizing beader as well as a perfectionist with quilting too!
Thank you Mary, I love them both  :)

The light was poor, but I'm a sucker for a quilt along, and the Old Red Barn Flikr group is running another.  Asterisks!  This is my first block, I'm using my large stash of Wildwood by Erin McMorris for FreeSpirit.  I've got all the blocks and strips cut, I just need to find a few moments to piece them all!

I finished a quilt last week too!  I made this one last year using a charm pack, it has travelled to South Wales to be part of the summer raffle at a school on Barry Island.   It was hard to part with, but I know it will help the school out raising much needed funds.

I went to the Pearoom Quilters exhibition at Heckington at the weekend, more on that in the next post ....

oh, and I'll let you know about my pinkie promise too!

Giveaway Winner ...

After a long day at work and what seemed like an even longer drive home... (can you believe it took me 45 minutes to go less than 6 miles out and around Lincoln!)  I was lucky enough to have a cup of tea waiting for me!  Delightful!

oh.... anyway, I asked the Teenage Diva and my partner to both pick a number, they came up with two different numbers, 7 and 8 respectively, so I added them together and got 15, so comment fifteen was...

That's some major chocolate! Yum!

My daughter has been picking up some batiks so I can make her a quilt. I'd love to add to her orange/pink selection:)

Thanks for the chance to win!

So Vicki, I just sent you an e-mail, send me a reply and I'll get them in the mail on Monday morning :)

Happy Weekend!

Wednesday 9 June 2010

Almost ... but not quite...

I had a busy weekend away on a quilt retreat.  Great food, the hotel has just been sold and the new chef only started last week.  He made quite an impression!

Saturday afternoon tea!  (It's been a bit of a foody week!)

What you really want to know is what did I get done, isn't it  :)  Ok I won't disappoint.

I finished this little beauty off, just a minor adjustment to the border and now it's ready for quilting.  You like?  Go visit Charlie at Qubee Quilts, Three of these tops are his patterns, and he has them available on his web site

Another Qubee Quilts pattern, called Love, I have the border cut and ready to attach.  Unfortunately I didn't take the border fabric with me at the weekend.  (Ooops)  I love this pattern, it came together so easily.

The third Qubee Quilts patterns, Prairie Stars was a great runner to make, I've just got to find the right backing fabric and this one will be done.

This was a pile of blocks at the beginning of the weekend, they've been pressed, trimmed and squared laid out and sewn together.   This is a commission quilt for a colleague of mine.  I had planned to add a couple of borders but have since been unable to find just the right blue to finish it off.  So I'm on the hunt in my stash for more blues to do a scrappy border instead.

I made a start on my Bees Knees VQB blocks, I need to finish these and get them in the mail.

All in all it was a productive weekend, I also managed a huge pile of half square triangles that were made as leaders and enders.  I love getting two quilts for the price of one!

Happy Quilting!

Thirteen!

Yesterday morning I was baking!  The request was for chocolate cake!  What's more chocolatey than some Thornton's Continental chocolates on top?

She loved it!

AND...

One thing I can make is Chocolate Torte, so a slight variation is these truffle like home made chocs made with bitter chocolate cases and torte filling.  Trust me, you only need one!

It seems like everyone is busy with giveaways, and to celebrate my youngest becoming a teenager I'd like to share the love.  So if you fancy winning a few (or more) 2 1/2" strips (wof) of mostly batiks then leave a comment, let me know if you would prefer blue/greens or orange/pink colourways and what you'd do with them.  That's all, no hoop jumping, I'll pick a winner Friday 11 June and will post sometime after 6pm British Summer Time.   Everyone is welcome!

More of my weekend roundup later....

Happy Birthday A!
