Shameful Confession

I need to 'fess up

you see I've been part of a group of quilters who have been doing a round robin,
in fact, they are now into their second round!
(lets be clear here, I am not participating in round 2)

to one particular person, I owe a huge apology
for taking so long over the last round on her top

and lets not beat about the bush here, 6 whole months!

so you can understand why this was on my FAL for Q1 right?

yes, we are talking the Old Red Barn Ab Fab Free Bees round robin,
and with Q1 end fast approaching I needed, for my own sanity,
to get this one done!

this has had me stumped for a while, then intimidated by all the other amazing piecing that has gone before me, and then when inspiration struck, I was just so overwhelmed with the tardiness of my timekeeping!  Shamed!

so I started off with an idea of sort of a forest, and a little improv piecing later ...

managed a whole panel ... I'd toyed with the idea of log cabins, but you know what,
I just couldn't manage them at the moment and decided to just keep it simple ...

hey presto, a few stylised trees later and my forest is complete!

Now, I've written my confession in the journal, and made my siggy block, and this not so little baby is now ready for posting on Tuesday morning :)

one last word on this,  I am humbled at Lynz's patience in me completing her top, she did offer to accept it back without my adding anything, and frankly I think I'd have felt worse than I do for taking so long. And trust me, I feel sick to the core over this little escapade!

Thank you Lynz, valuable lessons have been learnt!

so I know declare that as a complete finish for one of my Q1 FAL projects

YES!  What relief!

ps.  Thank you all for your get well wishes, I am feeling a little better each day, and less deathlike, and clearly more able to function at a basic sewing level. very important.  So thank you, I really appreciate your concerns and well wishes x

Sunday Sitrep

Sunday already!

My goodness this week has flown by!  is it just me?

I wanted to get a lot done, no, I NEEDED to get a lot done!

first up, Pea Room BOM Block

and then there was the round robin to get to Lynz for the Ab Fab Free Bees

and of course the Brit Bee Blocks for the lovely Katy

and a small matter of a framed purse for a birthday gift,

I haven't finished quilting the Best of British just yet, but it's close

my time seems to be on everyone else's agenda at the moment, and I'm a little sluggish getting going in the mornings ... I need to change that situation ...

though the annual school shop for shoes (urghhh!) and uniform is done!
And this year the Teenage Diva actually lost the will to live long before I did!

Plan for the coming week ...

finish quilting Best of British

turn this pile of loveliness into a Brit Quilt Swap quilt for my partner

load up a customer quilt and get it movin'

I think, being as I already have a day sewing planned with Di that is enough to keep me out of too much trouble, don't you think?

And then there is the small matter of himself that has other ideas, and Mum's Taxi duties!

(I continue to do battle with Blogger loading my pics, and my laptop that is slowly dying)

still here ...

... I've been reading a lot lately  ...  blogs  ... I treated myself to an ipad, though I've yet to work out how to blog from it...  I'm sure some of you clever ladies will point me in the right direction ...

... and 'those' books ... all three of them!

But I have been busy sewing and quilting ...

Ab Fab Free Bees ...

I've been working on my 'In the Frame Purse' for my swap partner ...

and the purse is done, I've just got a few extras to get in hand ... and post it all this week.

the July BOM for the PeaRoom Quilters ...

Which went down at the summer celebration well!

And in addition to quilting a customer quilt, I've been very busy working on my Festival Quilt ...

delivery of said finished quilts by Friday this week!
I'm afraid this is it for seeing the Quilters Guild Challenge quilt, I'd like the impact of it to be at the show.  I promise to show you the finished quilt come Festival of Quilts.   The theme is 'Britain, what it means to you' - oh the possibilities!

So whilst I've been awol, I have been beavering away ...

normal service to resume shortly :)

Sunday Sitrep

I've been absent, I'm sorry, LIFE ... nuff said!

But I did get my Mouth Stitches Pouch made for my swap partner ...

I even managed a wee pocket inside

I'm pleased with how well the sip ends went, thanks to a great tip by Susan  :)

and I took a little inspiration from Hadley with some hardware

I hope my partner like it,  I'm rather taken with it myself!

and in true swap fashion, I've been thinking extras, and these scraps from my Made in Cherry quilt could be just the ticket, despite being ticket sized (about 4 1/2" x 2 1/4" - 3" ish)

Would you be happy to get scraps that size?
I have some more to go with these, but these do come as a collection

I also got to do some work on the Ab Fab Free Bees round robin for this month ...

I chose a block from one of the 100 blocks magazines ...

a bit of a border or two and some applique ...

but this one is still speaking to me, as much as I am ready to send it on to Lynz in the morning, I may have to hold off a little , though the way life is, it could be just quicker to post it!

I've been doing a little more cutting, but not on anything I should have been working on ...

I've been staring at this little bundle that was a Moda Scrap Bag of Verna ...  it's been goading me for a while ... more on that in the week

and I got the block for the Pea Room BOM made ready for the meeting tomorrow night ...

Phew...  it was a productive weekend!

Exactly what I needed to put everything back into balance and perspective ...

Hope you've all had a creatively focused weekend too!

happy quilting!

Monday already!

I know it's been a while, but I haven't had a lot to say ... sorry, I've just been a little distracted

I have been busy sewing the binding on the monster quilt ... almost there ...

there was some of these ...

and remember this ...

well, it was featured on the Fat Quarterly blog last week, so I can finally show you what it was all about

cute little pouch, free motioned with 28 wt Aurifil thread created fantastic texture to the fabric don't you think?

this year I'm in charge of the Pea Room Block of the Month ...

There was a little bit of baking that involved this ...

ok, there may not have been any baking involved but there's still some in the fridge!

and on Christmas day the sign ups for the Old Red Barn Flickr spin off group Around the Bend and Across the Seas which is a sort of round robin ...

but free form ....

my starter block for our group the Ab Fab Free Bees,
there are several groups doing various forms of traditional rounds, rows and a couple of free form groups

and we decided we'd send a little journal to go along with the block on it's merry way round the world ...

I've done a bit of dabbling in scrap booking, and found all I needed in my secret craft store,  and blow me, I even have Amy Butler papers!

so that's me just about caught up, I have the second block for Miss January to finish for the Brit Bee, and am currently in the middle of quilting a quilt for somebody else,

and then I'd like to get on with my Swoon quilt and load up another of those UFOs

oh and I almost forgot this too ...

time I snapped out of this mental overload and did something more distracting ...

Happy Quilting!
