Busy as a Bee!

I've been productive these last couple of weeks and should have shown these sooner, but I was waiting for the sun to shine! 

This little quilt is so pretty, in my humble opinion!  Pattern called Feed Sack from the book, Scrap Basket Surprises by Kim Bracket.

And this quilt was on the frame, then off the frame as it wasn't quite finished before I needed to take the frame for a Quilting Retreat.

And then it went back on after the retreat for finishing!

This Star quilt is my March UFO Challenge - DONE! 

(Don't tell Nancy, but I haven't even looked at the April UFO yet! -  Shhhh!)

And I finally got the binding sewn down on this beauty!

Finishes!

Firstly, this is my February UFO finish...

... yes, I know it's April, (April?  Already?) and I did have this finished back in Feb but only managed to sew the binding down in March.  I'm sewing the binding on my March UFO at the moment.  :)  April's, well that is still in pieces!

And this is a layer cake quilt I pieced maybe last year? 

Again, it was quilted and finished in March, I'm just getting to post about it now.... Things have been a little busy ... but that's a long story.

This gives you a better idea of what it really looks like...

And this little baby quilt I quilted for a friend, who after waiting for years for grandchildren is finally going to be a Grandma!

And loving sewing for the expected arrival!

Back to the busy life ...  time for another hospital visit to my Mum, I'll be back as soon as I can!  In the mean time ...

February's UFO Challenge

I thought I better declare my intention for February's UFO Challenge. I was really pleased to get a head start in January, and am well on the way to finishing another on the list.

But for February this is no 7 on my list of UFO's. I saw a picture of a quilt whilst surfing the net, I can't remember where, but was inspired enough to dig out a jelly roll from John Louden and a big piece of yardage that contrasted well and started. The title is a bit of a joke between a Friend and I, but you could say they are mitered!

So, in this box is the remaining yardage, the strip sets sewn together, some pressed, some not. A few partially pieced blocks and a handful of finished ones too! It's going to be quite some challenge to get this one done quilted. bound and labelled by the end of the month. Wish me luck!

For now it's back to Camp Sloanie for a little finishing off.

Double Celebrations!

Today is my 1st blogaversary! I know, shocking isn't it, that I only started blogging 1 year ago. To every one of you, who have shared my random ramblings, thank you for coming back, leaving your comments of encouragement, I really do appreciate them. It's so nice to know we are on this journey together.



This sort of crept up on me, I haven't had a chance to prepare, forgive me, I will sort myself out for a Giveaway soon!



Secondly, and this is what I was going to blog about, I have completed my January UFO Challenge! Now that is cause for celebration! So today, Angela, Tina and I celebrated with home made cake!

So this is Boston Detour, made with the left overs from The Boston Quilt. A detour from the original pattern. A detour with the yellow fabric, this is more a cream with a distinct lemon tinge. And a detour from the pattern in the book, I managed to sew half the blocks the wrong way round. Fortunately, I happened to be on a quilting retreat at the time, so a friend, Joan came up with a cunning plan for a design opportunity. Didn't she do well!

I got this quilted just after Christmas (along with two others I might add!) It's such a satisfying feeling to complete a UFO, don't you think. Thanks Nancy for keeping us all focused!

Purple/Kaffe UFO ..

I have been through my photo's and cannot find one with the whole layout, I have all 80 or so blocks made and laid out on a flannel sheet, folded up in my box ready to piece together. But this gives you an idea of what I'm talking about when I say 'purple/Kaffe'. Just for you Sweetiepie!

After more snow last night, a raging blizzard this morning and heavy snow forecast for tomorrow, I'm taking a leaf out of Angela's book and am going to give Snow Dying and go! There's certainly plenty of it about, might as well while I've got the opportunity :) Thanks Angela!
