Yesterday morning I was baking! The request was for chocolate cake! What's more chocolatey than some Thornton's Continental chocolates on top?
She loved it!
It seems like everyone is busy with giveaways, and to celebrate my youngest becoming a teenager I'd like to share the love. So if you fancy winning a few (or more) 2 1/2" strips (wof) of mostly batiks then leave a comment, let me know if you would prefer blue/greens or orange/pink colourways and what you'd do with them. That's all, no hoop jumping, I'll pick a winner Friday 11 June and will post sometime after 6pm British Summer Time. Everyone is welcome!
More of my weekend roundup later....
Happy Birthday A!

Wow! Now THAT is a chocloate cake. My spouse is 40 in a few weeks (bua-ha-ha!!) and *loves* Thornton's chocs. This could be his cake!!
Ooh, and a giveaway!! Squee! I think the yellows would go in my blackandwhiteandcitron pile for my "Me" quilt - which may be about to turn into the ORB asterisk quilt!
Hmm. Seems I hallucinated the yellows - not had my coffee yet. Doh! In that case, pinks and oranges for my Chook! She's been nagging about a bed quilt.
WOW! That is totally COOL - what a great mom you are. My friend once made that cheesecake/brownie with our favorite candy bars crumbled on top. But Chocolate cake with whole specialty chocolates on top! I'd have really felt special. I think I'm adding this to my anniversary tradition list. A giveaway too! Blues are my favorite.
Happy Birthday to you teenager and wow the cakes look so very yummy.
Thanks for having a giveaway.
ps. I love any colours
You allow teenagers to eat chocolate?!! When do they come down from the ceiling? Caffeine and hormones, OMG!! Brilliant baking, any left?
Hmm, blue/greens or orange/pink colourways? Blues/greens would be soothing and I'd use them to make a quilt for the bach in Norfolk (need to keep the grandson's sticky fingers off the sofa!) but orange/pink would be challenging! You choose!!
Great giveaway, thanks for the chance and congratulations to your DD.
OMGoodness that is some cake ,Thorntons chocolate.... bliss ,and your torte looks rather scrummy too.could you possibly share the recipe please ,and yes ,please may I join the drawer for the material giveaway ,any colour would be lovely ,My current craze is bag/tote making ...love Jan xx
THAT! is some cake! talk about death by chocolate!!!
oh! I'm in heaven!! he he!
Even I, a die hard chocolate lover, would go into sugar overload with that delicious looking cake. I didn't know other parts of the world had our version of daylight savings time or standard time (your british summer time). Why can't they leave the darn clocks alone! Anyway, blues are my natural calling, so I'd go with the orange/pink for contrast. I'd make a wallhanging for my bare walls. Thanks!
Yum. Chocolate for breakfast after reading your post.
the chocolate torte sounds wonderful.
i'd love either-- making a french braid quilt. Pinks/orange if I have to choose!
mmmmmm chocolate is one of my favorite food groups....along with peanut butter and Coke! It is hard to imagine what I would do with the fabric when I am dreaming of yummy chocolate. I think I would make a new pocket book for myself. I have never made one and want to soon. I love blue-green combos!
Wow, I like the looks of that cake! Great idea that might be good for father's day. Oh yeah! And I love pink and orange!!!
Oh sorry, got distracted again by your photos... Blues & greens, and have you seen the 10-strip bag pattern? I'd make more bags!!!!
Our youngest turns 13 in Sept, I'm not sure if I should show her that cake or not. :0) She is my stepdaughter and it is thanks to her that I found our teacher who taught us both, starting when she was only nine, to make quilts. All colors batik are wonderful!Gayle
All that chocolate looks yummy! Batiks are yummy too. Especially in a string quilt :)
that is my sort of cake!yummy yummy yummy and if I had yellow and orange batiks I would use them on the gecko quilt that I am going to m,ake for little miss tired and stroppy
That's some major chocolate! Yum!
My daughter has been picking up some batiks so I can make her a quilt. I'd love to add to her orange/pink selection:)
Thanks for the chance to win!
That chocolate looks divine :) Thanks for the giveaway
That cake looks positively delicious!! Chocolate! YUM!
Happy 13th Birthday!!!
Thanks for the (B&G) Give away!
Those cakes - wowwww. I'll be over foir tea this afternoon, and I won't have lunch before so I can do justice to them.
What a lovely idea to do a giveaway. I would love either colour, and as I am planning a variation on a stacked coins quilt, but haven't decided on the colours yet, they would be perfect.
As for daughter, wish her Happy Cakeday please.
Happy Birthday to you teenager!
That is some cake _ I would call that death by Chocolate Cake - My word you must be a popular mum.
Lovely quilt tops, especially the magenta one!
Lovely chocolate too. I think I'd like pinky colours if I win but am not fussy. Not sure yet what I'd make with them. Will think about it all tonight.
