Stella Stars

Well if you didn't know it already, Justine at Simply Solids is running a Simply Solids Stash Club,

and to go along with a wonderful bundle of loveliness each month
the lovely Laura Jane has come up with a pattern
Theres also a flickr group for all the Sew Solid Crew here
so if you are taking part, or looking for inspiration go take a peep!

I've been working on mine over the last 3 months

first up were the purples

and then came the greens

and most recently the oranges arrived ..

so my stella stars continue to grow,

and I really love how my stash of solids are growing,
of for those I have another plan!

still ambling along ...

... more baking, emergency cookies for an impromptu visitor,

who had a delivery, and when I'm done with it I will show you!

and my Tripple Zippy Pouch ...

which just happens to be  twinnie to Annabella's

and I started quilting those great big Vintage Modern Stars

which is on my FAL list, so I'm making progress, about half way through quilting at the minute,
good progress :)

and I rustled up a bag, saw a pattern, looked simple enough for a bag dunce like me

and it was!
I'd make this again, but I would probably make it slightly bigger and add a zippered pocked to the inside lining too.

ah, yes, and then there has been some swapping of ugly fabrics happening about these parts ...

I guess up to 10 years old, not used constitutes ugly in my book!
though one recipient really loved it!

and there was also a little relaxation ...

with possibly one of my oldest UFO's, but that's a whole other story!

ambling along ...

well, you'd think so, by the lack of news around these parts!

so lets get up to date again ...

I've quilted this beauty, and it really is wonderful, full of vintage fabrics including some iconic Laura Ashley fabrics ...

I need find a perfect binding, maybe a vintage ditzy gingham, all suggestions gratefully received

I finally got round to playing with my Simply Solids Monthly Stash club fabrics, working on Laura's Stella Stars pattern ...

I have the greens matched up, and the oranges arrived today ... hmmm, fall ing behind already!

The Diva has gone on a little trip, nuff said!
But I did make her a pouch to put all her medical emergency stuff in, you know, the stuff you take just in case of Deli Belly and all that jazz!

kinda cute, but still an ungrateful child!

there has been baking ...

and I pulled fabrics from a triple zippy pouch ...

and I got a little play time in with these Superior Threads ...

that involved patchwork wadding ...

play time ...

and I uncovered 15 years of dust from this little baby ...

which meant I could get these done ...

so, for now, there you have it, ambling along as usual!

I'll be back with the rest tomorrow maybe

Saturday 9 February 2013

Oops ... I fell off the wagon!

I made a little trip out to a new-ish local quilt shop today, thanks to a call from a very good friend.

Seems whilst I was there this pile of Art Gallery Fabrics manages to smuggle their way into a bag, they even made it to the back seat of the car...

... And since they got that far ... well it would have been rude to have taken them back right?

So if you are in the Grantham area and fancy a very warm welcome, a cafe to park any unsuspecting man in tow, or to partake of a little light refreshment to bolster your spirits, and a lively selection of fabrics, I can highly recommend Stitchcraft Sudio.

Thank you Tina!

stumped ...

yes, I've been stumped, some may say physically, but in this instance, I confess, creatively...

I do love our Brit Bee ladies,
sometimes we get stretched ...

and I've been sat contemplating these 2 blocks since November!

but I am please to have them done now

so whilst I was on a roll ...
(well, avoiding real life!)

I moved onto February's blocks ...

Judith has asked for 2 different blocks

and delightfully all the cutting was done, so the blocks flew together quickly

and as Judith is the queen of using scraps, I felt I needed to use those little corners that were cut off from making the hidden stars block

I was very careful (I thought) and my hst's ended up at 1 3/4"
so this little block is now only 5 1/2"

so being stumped got me going again :)

Thanks Ladies :)  feels good!

Farewell January

Wow, February already!

Hopefully the snow and exceptional cold is gone, and we can warm
our hearts in February  ....

another busy month, and to get me started a little baking as always!

finished a quilt for me, an infinity scarf, Bee Blocks (of which the very astute of you will notice you haven't actually seen because I'm still stressing over its partner block)  a monster bee block, a couple of new quilts started, one zippy pouch and a matching drawstring pouch, a trunk show, and 2 customer quilts!

Phew! it felt like a hard slog at times, I'm looking forward to the challenges that February will bring :)

I'm linking  this post up to Lynne's Fresh Sewing day ...

so head on over and take a look at what everyone else has been busy doing
