in between all the relaxing and eating of left overs, there has been a bit of stitching going on ...
you didn't expect me not to right?
I first started this quilt back in September, but on checking, I've never actually shown you a completed picture of the top ...
this one blew over the fence when I was trying to get a pic into my neighbours garden, her dog was less than impressed!
anyway, betwix and between Christmas and new year is all about quilting for me, selfish I know, but it was my treat to myself for having done a quilting marathon just before the holidays
so start I did
and then I finished!
and the sun shone!
my last finish of the year, just in time, holding onto the warmth of the summer even in the depths of winter!
and then I set about putting my Swoon quilt together, those poor blocks have sat since late November waiting to be finished. Today was the day for putting borders on!
so at a mere 89" square, this one is screaming out for some custom quilting, don't ya think?
Its time will come, but the quilting fairies need to bring me a new big girls toy first!
and as I was finishing up, there was way too much scrappy strip goodness going on visually on instagram
I had to dig into the big (and I mean big!) box of 2 1/2" strips to see what pretties lurked within
there are too many people to blame for my indiscretion, but you may already have read one of the culprits own admission of guilt here!
and so, whilst tea was cooking, I ran this one up, and sorted more strips for the next few blocks ...
oh my, we'll have to add this to the ever growing list!
ok, waffled way too long, the year will soon be out, and I'm not ready for that to happen just yet!
Oh my goodness you have a box of 2.5" strips?! You rock...
The Star Quilt is even more beautiful quilted. Your bottom block looks good and as you have plenty of scraps you will make a stunning TAW quilt. New toy eh? I think I know what it is! Di x
I have been watching the scrapathon unfold in twitter! Looks very addictive. Your quilts look amazing
Great scots they are beauties! I have pulled fabric for that blimming Trip too, but so much else I should be doing, hey ho!
That giant star quilt is simply stunning T! And good for you for indulging in some quilting therapy! Love that strip quilt technique! Jxo
Your quilting is just amazing T! Glad you found time to play - but my goodness, don't you play hard?! Love that you got sidetracked into something new too!!
Oh, I do want to make a trip around the world but I have to finish some things first. I will put it on the list. I love your giant star quilt, it is just such pretty colours.
I love your giant start quilt, and the swoon quilt and the scrappy trip alongs are slowly sucking me in. The quilting on your Star Quilt is such a perfect compliment.
LOVE your quilting, so beautiful. My swoon is tucked away waiting for me to find some big girls pants big enoght to help me tackle it. I did ask Santa for a Mae for Christmas but the poor guys budget wouldn't stretch. One year perhaps!
I love your newest quilt - the quilting looks stunning! Hurray for finishing the Swoon top - can't wait to see how you quilt it! The Trip quilt looks like it's going to be very, very addictive...
Beautiful, beautiful. I imagine you sitting at your machine, quilting your way into 2013. Here's hoping it's a good one.
Sounds like the perfect treat to yourself :o) The quilting looks great too, and have fun with the swoon! As for being sucked in, things are always the fault of Katys, didn't you know, they even wrote a book about us 'What Katy Did' and then 'What Katy Did Next', so you see it's in our nature to lead you astray ;o)
Happy New Year Trudi - laughing at the ental image of some random dog being flattened by a quilt.
Enjoy your trip round the world.x
