Giving something back ...

If you haven't heard about Siblings Together before now, they are a charity that bring siblings that are separated by the care system together for summer camps.  Lynne of Lily's Quilts has put a call out for quilts so that each child can take home a quilt of their own from camp this summer.  You can read all about here for starters, there are several more posts too, so take your time  ...

I volunteered to make a quilt or two, and also for those that don't have time to make a whole quilt, I'll happily receive Granny Square blocks to be put together into quilts too.  There's a Flickr group if your interest in helping too ...

so to start with I needed to play a little and what better than a little stash shopping!
This charm pack is just perfect and will make a lap size quilt for starters

I made good progress, once my visitor had been, but then I got to thinking a bit more ...

I know, it's dangerous!

and I'd had these earmarked for something else, but it just wasn't making me happy ...

but they look lovely like this

don't ya think!

I'm really liking this ... expect to see more!

Speaking of more, as long as the sun makes an appearance tomorrow, even the briefest peak of sunshine will do ... I plan to have a finish for you :)

Happy Quilting!

Friday 30 March 2012

Well, what's a girl to do!

I promised you shopping!

Curios Nature from Parson Grey

I got mine from Annie's new shop, The Village Haberdashery
If you haven't stopped by to take a look, please do, I promise a feast for your eyes!  Go on, I know you want to!
Thank you Annie, I'm a very happy quilter!

Needs no introduction really does it!

Flea Market Fancy Fat Quarter pack from Hawthorne Threads

and there I go again!
More Denyse Schmidt from Pink Castle Fabrics all these are half yard cuts!

and then there's this gorgeous layer cake of Good Fortune by Kate Spain, I got mine from the wonderful Mandy of Simply Solids

And I can confirm a new order of Klona Solids is on it's way to me from Alice at Backstitch.  These are for a new charity project that has been brought to the worlds attention by Lynne over at Lilys Quilts.  Go read a little more about giving something back here.

So now I am on leave until after Easter, so expect to see a little more from me :)

I'm back!

Monday 26 March 2012

Oh so tired ...

... thankfully it's nearly April, time for the Easter school break, and a little time off work for me ...

and whilst I am more tired than an tired old thing ... really I am ...
I've snuck in a little over the last week I really should share ...

first up last weekend I did manage to get this block made and all prepared for the Block of the Month for the Pea Room Quilters  ...

Swoon blocks #3 ...

and #4 ...

and for the Scrappy Mug Rug Swap over on Flickr,  this is the mug rug winging it's way to my partner with one or two other goodies she may or may not like ...

... and I won!

from the very talented and equally lovely Hadley of Flying Blind on a Rocket Cycle ...

the gorgeous key ring, made just for little ol' me!  Thank you Hadley, I absolutely love it!
And to celebrate, I just HAD to buy it a matching hand bag!

Cute eh?

And talking of cuteness ....

no .... don't  .... definitely don't have those sort of thoughts!

I've been helping a friend make these for her daughter ... :)

So, if that all isn't enough,  I'm quilting the most beautiful Lone Star quilt for somebody at the moment ...

just  a little quilt at 100" square!

There have been a couple or more purchases too, but I'll save those for another post ...

there may also be more arrivals in the mean time!

Oops!

So, just the small matter of work for the rest of the week ... is it  really only Monday?

wish me luck!

Happy Mothers Day to all of you who are mothers too :)

and because I cannot post without a little pic,

I'll leave you with an early morning of peacefulness from last weeks retreat ...

It really was The Best Retreat !  Read more here and here!

Wednesday 7 March 2012

Time ...

... is precious, so we learn to make the most of it ...

precious time learning new skills, or building skills ...

which means it's time  ... for another Retreat!

it's all about feathers!  You know you love them!

so come and join us this weekend at the Petwood Hotel, Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire,
for some precious time ... devoted to YOU!

If you would like to learn how to use a frame to quilt, learn feathers, expand your own skills,

you can find all the details here ...

If your time is precious, why not talk to Martha about joining us for Saturday

I promise to bring plenty of inspiration, so you leave with new skills to make the most of your precious time.
